Bina Insani Semarang Integrated Islamic School saw the execution of the 2023 Indonesian “Brush Day and Night” Dental and Oral Health Program with the slogan “Don’t Wait Until It’s Too Late #Talk To A Dentist.” Students from grades 1-6 at SD Bina Insani Semarang participated in this program, as did instructors and parents.

According to statistics from the 2018 Basic Health Research (Riskesdas), the incidence of dental and oral issues in Indonesia remains high. A lack of public education and awareness of oral hygiene is one of the causes, particularly in locations that are difficult to reach owing to bad geographical conditions.

This exercise seeks to educate children and adults about the importance of excellent dental hygiene. With the subject “Don’t Wait Until It’s Too Late #Talk To A Dentist,” this campaign aims to raise public awareness about the need of not delaying dental care and of visiting a dentist on a regular basis.

This program’s primary audience is students ages 6 to 12, as well as their parents and instructors. Dentists train teachers and parents using the Training of Trainers (TOT) technique. Trained instructors and parents then help pupils comprehend. Aside from that, this activity includes administering youngsters Topical Fluoride in an effort to protect oral health.

The activity was held in the Bina Insani Integrated Islamic School Semarang, located at Jl. Tj. Sari Dalam VIII No.28, Sumurboto, Kec. Banyumanik. This program is intended to establish a school climate that promotes healthy living habits, particularly those related to keeping healthy teeth and mouth. It is believed that via collaboration between children, parents, and instructors, mutual awareness would be established in order to preserve optimal oral and dental health.
